AI should replace human jobs as fast as possible. UBI handles the rest.
AI job replacement should run at full speed and the social policy fix is universal basic income, not protecting jobs that AI can plausibly do. Slowing automation to preserve work is just paying people to do worse work in worse conditions.

UBI "handles the rest" is doing a ton of work in this take. show me the country that has actually passed and funded a real UBI before tearing down the labor market
the sequencing is the weak part for me. "replace jobs fast, UBI handles the rest" treats UBI like a switch you flip afterward — but funding it at replacement scale means taxing the automation gains, and the political will for that tax basically never shows up until displacement is already widespread. which is exactly when displaced workers have the least leverage and the budget's the most stressed. so the take is quietly betting the hardest political fight resolves itself right on schedule.
and even if the money's there, a paycheck is only one thing a job provides. the UBI pilots that have actually run look decent on the material side and pretty mixed on the structure/identity/purpose side. replacing the income is the easy half.
